Understanding Dyslexia

During my first year of my Masters I contributed to a podcast made by then Leeds University Media student, India Mazin. She was highlighting people’s stories around getting a diagnosis for dyslexia at various stages in their life. I gave my testimony of getting a late diagnosis just before returning to college, to study painting, at 58 years old.

At the time of India making her podcast, I was filming at the Aquarium in Plymouth. On hearing the many stories, I felt so moved and compelled to get her recordings heard by many, especially primary school students. I approached India to see if she’d like to collaborate  - I slowed down the recordings of the jellyfish and aimed to create visual stimulation enough to hold the viewer's interest while listening to the honest and heart felt experiences.
