I am a mixed media artist, whose current body of work explores my own neurodiversity in relation to my painting practice.

In this series, I have consciously chosen to paint in both a limited palette of oil colours, to allow me to simply focus on the imagery.

My initial inspiration came from observing the natural world and more specifically the ethereal otherworldliness of the jellyfish at the Plymouth aquarium. I was drawn to the jellyfish as an inspirational metaphor for my painterly expression of feelings around my own, newly recognised neurodiversity.

My work celebrates my newly found strengths and attributes as a neurodiverse creative, having undertaken research and experiments into Irlen’s syndrome. This is a visual perceptual difference, which I have identified, harnessed and incorporated into my painting work. I am interested in how these differences may or may not manifest in my paintings.
